for the most part the transitition to the 550th did several things, before the 550th Ben Tuey was HHC and a company, vien long was b company, and cantho with the bigest comcenter was c company. when the 550th took over HHC, A, and B company all stood down transfering people stateside or to other companys in vietnam. three of us remained at the comcenter at vien long. Ben tuey i do believe closed up as cantho was so close. the three of us stayed at vien long until vien long was closed as a military base. and then wre transfered to cantho. when b-company stood down we had dismantled the radio communications part of the comcenter relying only on landlines. we had gone from a company to a hole in the wall with little if any backup. when the power went out we had to leave our post go to the back of the comcenter to start the generator that they left us with that sometime would run. the problem us noone was able to keep an eye on the generator so parts kert comming up missing. we were happy and sad to see the closing of vien long. i have never heard from the other guys that stayed with me since.
