Hi Jim,

No, I am not kidding. I am not sure what groups at what times required them, but I remember being asked to get one when I had a chance. I conveniently never had a chance. One of my old web buddies, Carl J. LaMonica Sr, has his old license on his web site.

About 2/5th the way down his Start page.

And in the Civil Service it was required in order to drive government vehicles, I am not sure about now. But years ago, mid 80's, when I worked with a calibration laboratory at Cherry Point we had some field teams that traveled to Norfolk Va., Charleston SC, and Mayport Fla. (Jacksonville) to do calibration on some of the Naval ships while they were in port. A government license was required to drive the vans we carried our equipment in.
