Hi-I was in country at CanTho from April 1969 til April 1970-working as RTT Chief for the 244thSAC-all of our work was sent out through 52 Sig Bn-My memory was of the struggle of the locals-especially the ones who worked at the base-although they probably had the best deal-the people downtown in BenXeMoi also did the best they could-but that was usually at the expense of the GI!! My personal hooch maid took quite a liking to me, bringing me a little stalk of Asian bananas-(the tiny green ones) for breakfast on occasion and just being nice to me-I guess she sort of wanted to ' mother me, as I was pretty much a naive young kid at the time! Her name was Le Thi Hoa-and she was definately one in a million I hope she survived !! Anyway-this site brings back many memories-anyone else remember the 244th??
