I don't remember if this happened during my first year at CanTho or my second, but I believe it was during the first year. We had a guy who slept right inside the door facing the corrugated metal latrines. His area was surrounded by the plastic streamers that we used to hang for a semblance of privacy. Well, this guy had a tape of In A Gadda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly. He must have had it on a loop or something, cause he played it constantly, every night, as loud as he could. I came to hate that song. Anyway, the first record I bought when I came home from Nam was In A Gadda Da Vida. Still listen to it and it still brings back memories.
