If he was a gunner, he wasn't with the 221st. They flew the O-1 Bird Dog. I have about a hundred hrs in their back seats. The one pilot I remember was 1lt then Cpt Jeff Gray or Grey.
The 121 was a lift company in Soc Trang. I got my one air medal strapping as a gunner for the Tigers in Mar-Apr 68. His name sounds vaguely familiar, but I'm not sure.
