I was a mechanic with the 608th TC Detachment - Sept 67 - May 68. The night Tet started, I was on the flight-line pulling guard duty. Almost got hit with one of the flares when it's chute tangled. I extended for another tour and transferred up north to Lai Khe into the 408th TC Detachment which was part of the 173rd AHC, also known as "Robin Hood and the Crossbows". We didn't have Cobras there, just "C & D" models. I ended up as "company scrounger" and had a "ball".
