I was statoned at Can Tho from 10/69 to 09/71 and was a air traffic controller in the tower. During my tour I kept a daily diary. On April 1 about 8pm automantic weapons fire rang out. I presumed it to be that of the enemy. Apparently two SSGT were playing around with a greese gun and the weapon discharged. April 3, 1970. On yellow alert status this day and the past several days the airfield had been on yellow alert. I was working the tower on the 12 midnight to 6am shift. Upon sun rise, the discovery of 5 Vietnamese were found butchered and laid out on the perimeter wire on the southside of the airfield. May 15, 1970. Red Alert, the airfield took incoming enemy mortar fire. June 11, 1970 Red Alert. Around 2:40am the airfield took incoming enemy mortar fire. July 11, 1970 Red Alert. Around 11pm Airfield started taking incoming mortar fire.

Good luck with the VA. As I look back I have had PTSD for along time. It is only in the past few years that I have reached out and got some help. I had been under the impression I could handle "IT" all by myself, I was wrong.
