In February 1971 I was with another Army guy and two Navy guys and we were drunk and disorderly in downtown Can Tho. We decided to go over to the MACV PX and get another bottle of booze. When we got about 20 feet from the front door the roof blew off the PX and we hit the dirt. I can still remember being drunk and diving to the ground and looking up to see the roof pieces top out and fall on us, then three or four guys ran past us naked with blood running down them (there was a shower on the backside of the PX). We hopped up (now sober) and ran into the PX. It was chaos, people were crawling out of debris piles and we heard moaning and went behind the counter to discover a young Vietnamese girl (clerk) injured. We grabbed a door laying in the floor and carried her out. She appeared to be in bad shape, we heard she died the next day. We also heard it was a satchel charge and alternatively that the boiler in the kitchen blew up. Either way it was devastating. Does anyone else know anything about this incident? Ron
