This is from a post from the 162nd AHC website. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The year was 2004.

I am sorry to report that Col. James Edward Elliott, who we knew in 1971 as Capt. Jim Elliott, Copperhead 36, has died. Jim was 58 and spent 32 years in the Army.

Jim was in Spokane, Washington on January 24th to attend a birthday party for his mother. He was seated in his car about to leave his hotel when he suffered a massive heart attack and died.

A memorial service was held in Spokane on January 31st and Jim will be buried in Arlington National Cemetary on February 25th at 9:00 am.

Chuck Wilson, Copperhead 37, who has remained in touch with Jim over the years, was contacted by Jim's daughter. Chuck is on the road with work and asked me to write this email.

On behalf of Jim, who made so many of us feel safe when he said it, I would like to say, "Vultures, the Copperheads are on you." God bless you Jim.
