As I recall, Christmas that year wasn't so great. Some misguided soul had an airplace with loudspeakers circling the airfield for several hours. The weather was dry and the sun blazed down on us. It was about 110 in the shade and there was none. I was on a detail filling sandbags to shore up a bunker. My mother had sent me a home made choclate cake, which of course, did not arrive in really good shape. It was, in fact, crawling with tiny livestock when I opened it. No hohohos that day. Some idle specualtion about impromptu target practice involving the aforementioned Psy Ops aircraft, which was, as I recall an O-1. It was playing a record, not a tape and kept skiping tracks and the sound set-up was for voice not music. One the weirder days in my admittedly bizarre Army career.

Anyone else?
