I have a note that the Can Tho airfield was hit the night of 1/12/69. My unit was quartered in town but half the unit was on the airfield. As I remember based on my note, the VC came through the wire at the end of the runway and hit the bunkers there. They then went down the flight line and threw satchel charges into some Chinooks. My note says that 10 were KIA and 8 WIA. For some reason, I think 6 Chinooks were damaged on destroyed. Members of that unit should know more about the incident.
