I can't swear to it, but it sounds like you could have landed at Eakin Compound and gone to MACV. If I am not mistaken, the MAVC/IV Corps HQ was toward downtown Can Tho about 1 mile from Eakin. It was near a big traffic circle and fountain. That is if my memory is correct.
