The swastika symbol struck me too as being odd at the time. It was later explained to me that the swastika is a Buddist symbol. But....you ought to make the story interesting (as a joke) for your friends and tell them you found out that members of Hitlers "S.S." were holed up in Can Tho waiting for a "Fourth Reich".
34 years later and I wish I had taken 10 times as many photos of the area as I did. It was an interesting time.
