What a joke! One time we all ordered "Chateaubriand" at a Vietnamese restaurant in Can Tho somewhere (not the Ben Xe Moe section). "Chateaubriand" is supposed to be a cut of beef from the tenderloin....samey same as Filet Mignon.

What we got you couldn't cut with a bayonette. No doubt we were eating Water buffalo.....and a very old water buffalo that some Papa San had worked to death.

Like I previously said............I must have been nuts to be eating in any of those establishments. Funny, but the only time I got sick (tommaine (sp?) poisoning) was from eating some pork ribs at a cookout at the USO that was in our compound. I spent the night out at the 3rd Surgical Field Hospital in Binh Thuy. Thought I was going to die........until they brought in a chopper pilot who was all burned up from a chopper crash. My problem seemed then seemed insignificant compared to a poor guy who was badly burned.

But, back then, you had this feeling of invincibility.....I think you already said that.....but not anymore. Time and age will change you, that's for sure.
