On 1/31/68 (begining of TET, 1968), the Army lost 5 men in Phong Dinh Province all due to the same reason: Hostile, Ground Casualty, Gun, Small Arms Fire. Their names are:

CPL Ghalib Ahmed Abdullah, 32A10 (Fixed Station Attendent)

PFC Peter Michael Coleman, 11B20 (Light Weapons Infantryman)

SP4 Richard Dale Hovland, 71B30 (Clerk-Typist)

SP4 James Richard Mc Clintock, 51G20 (Materials Quality Specialist)

SP4 Edward Mc Nally, 36K20 (Tactical Wire Operations Specialist)

I do not know if any of these are related to the same incident or not. I'm primarily interested in determining what unit SP4 Hovland was in and in more precise information on where he was killed. This is for a first cousin of his who would like to get in touch with someone who knew SP4 Hovland and who knows what happened.

Thank you, Gentlemen,

Jeff Northridge ["B" Co., 2nd Bn. (Mech), 47th Inf. Rgt., 9th Inf. Div., 12/68 - 8/69]
