I think I remember that place. But it was at the opposite end of the airfield from where we were. Looking at the picture, if you took a right on the road in front of the buildings, you would come to the guard posts that were on that side of the runway. If it the same place I think it is, that small road going up to the buildings, I drove my truck across there one day and a flying crane came down almost on top of me. With all the dirt flying around I just stopped the truck and covered my eyes until he lifted off. And I used to pass by there on my way to guard duty on that side of the airfield. If you took the main road, below, just out of site, further on down you would come to the main airfield gate. If you kept going you would come to another dirt road to the left which would go up a few hundred yards to where our tents were. I checked all the aerial photos on the main site but did not see anything that I could recognize. I left there in August '69. I don't how much longer that transportation unit stayed together after that. Since we ran convoys throughout the delta I would imagine that they were there for a while just as a matter of supply and demand. We hauled JP4, 105mm arty, food and sometimes beer and scotch. Funny how those cases of scotch would get damaged along the way. We also hauled frozen food to the classI storage freezers just inside the main gate. We picked up our loads from the navy boats on the river. Sometimes at night, when large pallets of beer or soda were being transported from the river to the base, a truck would show up empty and the next day one of the drivers had a wad of cash to send home. Claimed they had been robbed. Anyway, thanks for looking. As more people are made aware of this site perhaps one day someone will have some photos of just what I'm looking for. Russ
