Was part of a small Air Force Detachment at Can Tho Airport, which was a brand new pink Terminal Building and Control Tower. We lived in a Hotel downtown and took our meals at the MAAG Compound. The only others on the Airfield at that time was a "B" Detachment of 5th Special Forces (NCOIC was Sergeant Major Flynn - Broke his leg on a proficiency jump over Can Tho - Hung up on a Church Steeple). We were not allowed on the field until after 8AM and had to be off the field by 6PM. Air Force Personnel were Control Tower Operators, Weather Detachment, 1MOB, and 4 of us made up Det 2, 6220 Air Base Group. (Aug 62-May 63) Contact me at <usafross@acsnet.com>
