I am back home now from my visit of the Philippines. More details latter but I spent several days touring and shopping in Manila. From Manila we moved up to the VFW near the old Clark airfield and spent a few more days there. Made a side trip and tour of the old Navy area at Subic Bay and visited the VFW still there. After the Clark area we moved down to the island province called Masbate and I stayed in that area most of the remaining time. There were mud slides on Leyte Island that is the next island south east of Masbate. If you remember your history, Leyte is where we returned first in WW II to take it back from Japan and MacArthur set foot back in the Philippines. Some of our US Marines showed up to help the people in the area after the mud slides. Also while I was in country the Philippine Marines in Manila tried to depose the lady President.

All in all I took over 700 pictures and should put some on line over the next few months at: http://www.moorej.com/philippines/

I plan to return towards the end of the year and visit the island Province of Cebu. Cebu is where Ferdinand Magellan landed in 1521 and Christianity was started in Southeast Asia. There are many American living like kings in Cebu for $1,000/month on retirement.

I may visit Baguio next time too, where the Army had an R&R station called Camp (Club) John Hay and is called the summer capital because it is high in the mountains and cool. There are many American in this area too.

Latter, Joe
