I was with the 93rd with SP4 Richard Hovland at Fort Lewis and at Bearcat until the beginning of Jan 1968. He was sent to the 69th and I was sent to the 34th Group HHQ in Vung Tau. He was HHC company clerk. He was from Williston North Dakota. After we got seperated we talk by radio daily. I remember telling him the day of attack to be careful because the word was there would be a TET offensive that night. He told me he was on guard duty that night but well protected by ARVN and near the airfield. The next morning I called to check on him and was told he was killed protecting the perimeter bunker. This site is the only mention of Richard that I found on this American Hero and my friend who I will never forget. Thank you for this site.
