Joe, This may be a bit late, but during my time with D Company, 69th Engineers in 1971, I did not hear of any atrocities from our guys. I did know of an atrocity by the Viet Cong in a village near our camp south of Can Tho beside a highway. The VC attacked a family that was friendly to Americans, and I saw a little girl who had been blown up by one of their grenades. I was told that she died after her medevac from near my guard position. I feel like any American atrocities involving our unit would have been exposed by then and think such atrocities are extremely unlikely.

Killing the enemy-no matter how-isn't an atrocity, NVA cutting off penis's and putting them in the mouths of soldiers after their dead is an atrocity
