The story of the first ground attack on Can Tho Airfield was posted earlier. That occurred on the night of January 31st, 1968 and resulted in five brave men from Hq and Hq Co, 69th Engineer Bn being killed in combat. These men’s names are on the Wall and the location is noted as follows. Cpl Ghalib Ahmed Abdullah, New York, NY (35E84), PFC Peter Michael Coleman, Edensburg, PA (36E3), SP4 Richard Dale Hovland, Williston, ND (36E16), SP4 James Richard McClintock, Port Orchard, WA (36E27) and SP4 Edward McNally, Cheyenne, WY (36E26). If you are visiting Washington, DC stop at the Vietnam Memorial and say a prayer for these men and all of our fallen comrades.

If anyone has any information about these men or their relatives, please let me know. Time is passing, its getting late, and I would like someone who cares about them to know what happened that night. Write me at jbeben@comcast.net. Thanks.
