Yes, your nightmares will go away if you let go of them. We have had our share too, but we have chosen to turn them into a positive thing rather than letting them destroy us. We have found out through the years that our nation as a whole was not and is not "ungrateful" for what you men and women did in the VN war. The news media loves to mislead the general public and we have learned that too. The fact is, newspapers and reporters are in the business to make money and gain a name for themselves and they don't care whose toes they step on or whose hearts they break to do it, knowing this, we simply accept it as we know there is nothing we can do about it and we feel sorry for the people who do the things they do. As to no oil in VN, we didn't go there for that or anything else that we could "use to our advantage". I totally agree that it was a botched war or military whatever, but not because of the men and women that fought and served in it, but because of the political idiots that were running things at the time. Every man and woman that served in our military should be proud of what they did there. I know there were some that did some pretty ugly things in that war, but if we are completely honest with ourselves, those types were few and far between. As a whole our military men and women are the greatest on earth. Yes, we may not have "won" the "war", but there were many, many, many battles won by many brave men in that war and those of us that survived it, no matter how mangled or mad or disgusted or ill feeling we are, need to honor those men and live our lives in a way that gives honor to them, especially to the ones that lost their lives there. You may not know it, but you are one of the blessed ones, you got to come home and you need to be thankful and grateful to God for that and to the men over there that made that possible for you. I feel sure that many of you came back home at the cost of someone else's life and you need to understand that and rid yourself of the hate and anger that you are apparently harboring for the way our nation acted about that war and replace that hate and anger with a true desire to live your life happily and to the fullest because of the ones who made that possible for you as they will never get the chance to live again. No one knows what you men went through but ya'll and your families and sometimes not even your families, but no matter, you men are brothers by a bond that cannot be broken by time nor death and each of you needs to live the rest of your lives with honor, respect, and dignity for those who made it possible for you to come home. The Bible says we have to be "in this world", but not "of this world" and that is how me and my husband live. Harboring any hate, anger, or resentment for a world that doesn't know the love of Jesus Christ and understand the sacrifice that he made for us on that cross, is simply not what we choose to do, but instead we choose to live for Christ and know and understand that the soldiers that served in VN are like Christ and they made the ultimate sacrifice for us just like he did. The Bible says that there is no greater sacrifice than that a man lay down his life for others. The Bible also says that we should forgive those that do us wrong, and me and my husband have forgiven everyone who caused any ill thing during that war and we live in a peace that surpasses all understanding and know that harboring and holding on to things that cause you pain and anger can destroy you and those that you love. We encourage you to find peace and if you would like to correspond with us you are more than welcome to. Yvonne and Sam (dyj@webTV.net)
