Hi Jim,
Guess we didn't kow each other, but I was a civilian lived in Camp Radcliffe 1969. I was working for the New Zealand Red Cross - with displaced persons. We got housed in a compound of hooches on the low slopes of Hong Kong mountain. Every night about 7.15pm Charlie used to fire out of a cave just above our heads.
I went back to An Khe last year and had a look. There is no sign that Camp Radcliffe ever existed except that there is a road which I think follows the course of the main road in from the gate. I thought here might be a few blocks of concrete or somesuch. Zilch. An Khe in the meantime has grown into a big town. Not quite a city but getting there. Quite amazing.
