I was at the Soc Trang Army Airfield from Tet '68 until Tet '69, assigned to the 3 Signal Detachments that serviced the 121st and 336th Assault Helo Co's. Each AHC had an operations 'hut' that looked a lot like French Colonial construction: stucco outside, terra-cotta tile roof, etc. Local legends had it that the French built, the Japanese used it, then we Americans had it...but that it would revert back to the Vietnamese "no matter who won." If I can ever get computer-savvy enough to be able to take some of the slides (pictures) that I took and be able to post them, I'll do that here. In the meantime: salut! [By the way: we probably fought the same people...and their children...that YOU fought.] --Spec4 Pat Dwyer, 257th Sig. Det.
